Is Apple going to release a new gaming subscription service? The answer is yes, if you trust the several confirmed anonymous sources from Apple who leaked this information to the news magazine, Cheddar.
There are no details as to how the subscription based service would look, how much it will cost cost, or what games would be offered since it is confirmed that the gaming subscription service is still in the early stages of development. However, Cheddar’s anonymous sources revealed that Apple is already communicating with game developers about this future service.
This wouldn’t be the first subscription based program released by Apple. Apple Music, according to a report from Billboard Magazine, is “already on pace to overtake Spotify” as the number one music streaming service in the US. Additionally, rumors of a a TV and Video subscription streaming service have also been leaked by anonymous sources from Apple as reported by theinformation.com.
Given Apple’s overwhelming success in their current paid subscription offerings, the obvious trends of consumers gravitating toward subscription based content for entertainment, and the massive 63.2 billion dollars of revenue generated by mobile games in 2018, a gaming subscription service seems to be a very lucrative way for Apple to invest their talent and resources.
